How to Disable AI Overview on Android (Chrome & Mobile)

Step-by-step instructions to set Google Web (udm=14) as the default search engine in Chrome for Android using automatic engine discovery.

Chrome Android Discovery Method

  1. Open Chrome on Android and visit: google.com/search?q=test&udm=14
  2. Type any second search query on that page and hit enter. Chrome registers the search engine in its internal database.
  3. Tap the 3 dots (⋮) in the top right > Settings > Search engine.
  4. Select Google (Web) from the Recently visited list.
  5. All subsequent searches made directly from your phone's address bar will open in clean Google Web mode with zero AI Overviews.
